The Westminster catechism (no, I’m not sure what a catechism is either!) states that “the chief end of man is to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever.” We were created for relationship with God. In amongst all the work that we do, there is nothing more important or satisfying than our relationships. And there is no more fulfilling or challenging relationship than our relationship with our creator.
There is something about spending time with God that helps us to find strength, get perspective and understand who we truly are. Learning how to pray, to tune in to God is a life’s work. For all of us, the way that we do that will be different.
To truly live, we need to find our own way of being with God above the distractions and stress of life. On this page are some resources and suggestions.
Our prayer is that you will find something here to help you on your journey.

This fictional story of one man’s encounter with God has helped many people. I read it sat in a cafe at Greenbelt the other year and came away from the experience feeling closer to God. Not brilliant literature and you have to get through the first few chapters to get to the best bits but worth persevering. Catherine Cowell
Beacon House of Prayer
This is a place of prayer in Burslem, open for many hours each week. A place where people can go to pray or just to chill out with God. There are also prayer rooms on the website, where you can post a prayer.
We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness. God is the friend of silence.
See how nature - trees, flowers, grass- grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence...
We need silence to be able to touch souls
